Magicware
Having grown up in southern California & having migrated north to Portland at age 18, Matthew Weatherman had still not experienced Winter until house-sitting in Idaho when he was 30. Fortunately, hidden amidst the snowy property was a spoon shop. A curiosity turned into a budding apprenticeship with Ted Bowers which has evolved into a productive passion. Now, Matthew makes unique utensils from the wood from fruit trees & hardwoods from across the Pacific Northwest.
When visual artist Jaquelyn Cruz saw his spoons, knives & forks, she wanted to burn them. Using sacred geometry, tribal patterns & her own outstanding designs, she scrawls swirling shapes and lines into his tools. Together they bring into being truly singular implements. Whether preparing food or casting spells, make some magic with MAGICWARE.
